LaserWriter IIg: Connecting to MS-DOS PC over Ethernet (5/97)

Is it possible to connect the LaserWriter IIg to an MS-DOS PC through Ethernet instead of through a serial connection?

The only solution we are aware of is PhoneNET Talk from Farallon Computing,Inc.  This is the successor to AppleShare PC, and it implements theAppleTalk protocol stack on an MS-DOS system.  You would have to make surethat the Ethernet card used in the MS-DOS system is one of those supportedby PhoneNET Talk.  There are a number of different cards supported, so youshould be able to find one to fit your needs.

Since both the LaserWriter IIg and PhoneNET Talk implement AppleTalk Phase2, you should have no difficulty communicating with the printer using thisproduct.
