iPod for Windows: Long Delay Accessing Songs in iPod

Symptom

After syncing music to an iPod using iTunes for Windows version 4.1, iPod starts up slowly.

iPod may skip the selected song and play the next one.

Solution

1. Download and install iTunes 4.2 for Windows from the iTunes website: (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/).
   
2. Restart the computer when prompted to do so.
   
3. Perform a full Restore of the iPod using the latest version of the iPod Updater that is available for your iPod--version 2.1 for iPod (with Dock Connector) and version 1.3 for previous iPod models. Both versions are available from http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/.
   
4. Sync your music to the iPod using iTunes 4.2.
