ADB<BR>

It is safe to make ADB connections to a PowerBook when in Sleep mode.<BR>
<BR>
Serial<BR>
------<BR>
It is safe to make a serial connection to a PowerBook when in Sleep mode though it may require a restart to recognize the device.<BR>
<BR>
SCSI<BR>
----<BR>
It is safe to make SCSI connections to a PowerBook when in sleep mode.  However, you may need to restart the PowerBook or use a utility such as SCSI Probe to force the PowerBook to recognize the device.<BR>
<BR>
SCSI Disk Mode<BR>
--------------<BR>
If you accidentally connect the SCSI disk adapter to a PowerBook while it's in sleep mode, you'll get a warning dialog box when you wake it.<BR>
<BR>
You must first turn off the PowerBook when connecting the SCSI disk adapter.  The SCSI disk mode firmware is only executed from a cold start. NOTE: All PowerBook models support SCSI Disk Mode with the exception of the PowerBook 140, 145, 150, and 170.<BR>
<BR>
If you connect the cable while the system is in sleep mode, there will be conflicting SCSI IDs on the bus and potential data loss.  There are two methods to exit this state:<BR>
<BR>
-You can shut down the system by pressing the reset and interrupt<BR>
(programmer's) switch<BR>
<BR>
-If there's data in RAM that you need to save, you can disconnect the SCSI<BR>
disk adapter to resume normal operations (that is, the dialog box will go<BR>
away).<BR>
<BR>
Note: The PowerBook 100 User's Manual incorrectly advises the user to shut down the system using the Shut Down command from the Special menu.  It is not possible to do this since the menu bar is disabled when the warning dialog box is showing.<BR>
<BR>
