* To make clear that holding down the option key still has a
role in the System 7 Monitors control panel.

I recently upgraded my Macintosh IIci to system software version 7.0. Under
version 6.0.X, when I wanted to change the memory allocation for the
built-in video, I used this procedure:

1) In the Control Panel, I selected the Monitors cdev.

2) I pressed the Option key and clicked the "Options..." button.

A dialog box appeared, and in the bottom portion of the dialog box, labeled
"Memory Allocation For Built-In Video", there were radio buttons for
setting how much memory to allocate to video.

Is this still the correct method for System 7?

Under system software version 7.0, you no longer need to press the Option
key. Just click the "Option..." button in the Monitors control panel to
display the dialog box.

If you do hold down the Option key when clicking the "Option..." button in
the Monitors control panel, you are presented with an option to "Use
Special Gamma" for applications where accurate color representations are
essential, or in situations where two differernt types of monitors are used
whose colors must match.
