If you are running MacX with A/UX, you do not need to upgrade to MacX
1.1.7. MacX has been included in A/UX since version 2.0.1 (March 1991).
The next version of A/UX, which will include support for System 7, will
incorporate MacX 1.1.7.
MacX 1.1.7 is the latest version of Apple's X Window System display
server for the Macintosh operating system. It provides X Window System
access and functionality for Macintosh computers in multivendor
environments. MacX 1.1.7 provides an integrated computing environment with
simultaneous access to Macintosh and X applications and the ability to cut
and paste color graphics and text between them.
MacX 1.1.7 provides support for System 7. MacX users can take advantage of
System 7 functionality, like Virtual Memory. This new capability expands
the computer's memory through software, so that Macintosh users can run
more and larger applications. MacX 1.1.7 is required for running MacX with
System 7.
In addition, X11 for A/UX, Apple's complete X development environment
replaces X Window System for A/UX, which used to incorporate MacX. You can
use this product, which includes client applications, libraries, and tools
for X Window System development. X11 for A/UX includes the software on
both floppy disks and CD-ROM discs.
