Is there a utility that will convert from Apple Single format to Apple
Double format (Resource and Data Fork) and back?

A utility program called 'fcnvt' comes with A/UX, and is a hybrid
application with A/UX and Macintosh Toolbox calls. Under A/UX the 'fcnvt'
utility converts a file in one storage format to a corresponding file in a
different storage format.

We suggest you upload files to A/UX and make any conversion there, then
download to the Macintosh operating system.

The formats supported are:

AppleDouble
AppleSingle
MacBinary
BinHex
Plain Pair
Plain Triple

A/UX also provides the utility 'setfile' that lets you set a file TYPE and
CREATOR. It also lets you set file attributes (that is, invisible, locked,
and so on).

For more information on either of these commands look in the A/UX manual
pages or use the A/UX man program.
