Macintosh Portable:Upgrade to Backlit Doesn‘t Require RAM Change

I would like to upgrade my original Macintosh Portable to the Backlit
Macintosh Portable. I heard that these two computers use different types
of RAM.

If I upgrade to the Backlit Macintosh Portable, will I also have to change
the RAM?

The Macintosh Portable uses Static RAM, and the Backlit Macintosh Portable
uses Pseudo-Static RAM. RAM is not interchangeable between the two models.

However, since the upgrade to the Backlit Macintosh Portable requires a
modification only to the main logic board, a change in RAM is unnecessary.
