System 7: Error -199 Is "Map Inconsistent with Operation"



I'm running system software version 7.0 on my Macintosh, and I got the
message Error -199 message. What does it mean?

Error -199 is a "Map Inconsistent with Operation" error. The most common
cause of this error is corruption within the System file.

Our recommendation is to trash the System file and rerun the Installer to
install a clean System file.
