LaserWriter IIf and IIg: Function of Jumper J11



On the Apple LaserWriter IIf and IIg I/O controller board, near the ROM
chips, is a set of jumper pins labeled J11. What is their function?

The jumper pins labeled J11 are at board position L7. The jumper pins
allow the use of 8-megabit ROM chips, providing a total of 4MB of ROM
space.

The jumper is factory set at the 2MB setting to allow the use of four
4-megabit ROMs, providing a total of 2MB of ROM space. There are no
existing Apple or third-party upgrades that use the 4MB setting.

All Apple LaserWriter IIf and IIg printers should be set at the 2MB
setting.
