Yes, the "snftobdf" is a public software utility for converting SNF (Server Normal Format) fonts into the BDF (Bitmap Distribution Format) fonts. It's UNIX-based, and runs at the X client end. Basically, you may convert SNF fonts on a UNIX-based X11 client host, and transfer them to a Macintosh OS computer. Then under MacX, you can use the Font Director facility to compile the BDF fonts into the X fonts that the MacX server can use.
For more detailed information on how to compile BDF files within MacX, see page 101 of Apple MacX User's Guide, "Compiling fonts from BDF files."
You can find a copy of snftobdf on AppleLink.
