Using A/UX 3.0, when I run newconfig or autoconfig, the kernel becomes
unusable, and I have to reinstall. On other UNIX platforms, it's
relatively painless to boot to a known good kernel, and then reconfigure
the kernel. Is this possible on the Macintosh?
The 3.0 newconfig is essentially the same as 2.0. The way to boot to a
known good kernel is to "launch /newunix" from A/UX Startup. Then try
/etc/newconfig.
